Be Careful What You Say When Your Mic is ‘Hot’
Wednesday, August 30th, 2006If your next corporate marketing event includes microphones and other AV equipment, you might want to be sure everyone involved in the “show” knows that they are “hot” and live when their mic’d.
Take CNN’s Kyra Phillips, for instance. A conversation between her and another woman in a restroom was broadcast Aug. 29 during CNN’s live coverage of President Bush’s remarks from New Orleans as he spoke about Hurricane Katrina one year later.
Phillips was unaware that her microphone was on, and that portions of her conversation — including remarks about her hubby and sister-in-law — were picked up (nearly) loud and clear.
So, round up your employees and practice, practice, practice before your next big event!
